Dallas Stars Playoff Bound

The Dallas Stars clinched a playoff berth for the first time in eight years, while it has been a while since the Stars tasted post season hockey, this will be an exciting time for the young Stars team. Once you make the post season, anything can happen and the Stars have about as good a chance as anyone else in the playoffs. Because it is about getting hot when it matters most.

Dallas Stars currently on the outside looking in, for playoff spot

The Dallas stars are so very close to being in the playoff sport, as of the 27th, they are three points out of the last playoff spot in the west. While they have been playing good hockey and could be in position to  make the playoffs, they are going to need some help at this point, because they only have one game left against the team in front of them.

Rich Peverley Done For The Year

Dallas Stars center Rich Peverley announced Wednesday that he is done for the season after collapsing during a game earlier this week. While it was a scary moment for players and fans alike, it goes to show preparation can save a life. He was revived after going unconscious and was immediately rushed to the hospital.

Sports Blog Movement NHL Preview: Central Division

SBM NHL Crystal Ball

The NHL’s version of the Central Division is going through some changes, thanks to realignment. Goodbye, Detroit Red Wings and Columbus Blue Jackets. Hello Winnipeg Jets and Colorado Avalanche. Sure it takes away a great Original Six rivalry between the Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks, but from a geographical standpoint, it makes sense. (I mean Winnipeg in the Southeast makes as much sense as the University of North Dakota joining the SEC.)

With realignment also comes a new playoff format in which divisional play is a much bigger factor now, than under the old format where conference play was key. So with that in mind, here’s a look at the NHL’s Central Division.

Stars to retire Modano’s #9

The Dallas Stars recently announced they were going to retire the Mike Modano’s jersey in a ceremony during a March home game next season. Mike Modano is “The” face of Dallas hockey and it will be a very popular ticket because he is beloved by fans in the metroplex.

What is D-FW?

Josh Hamilton became public enemy number one when he came out in the media just after leaving the Rangers to play for the Angels, saying Dallas was not a “Baseball town”. This lead to a whole campaign to prove him wrong and show him it is in fact a baseball town. But now things have died down from that statement, I started thinking about it and it really made me wonder, what is Dallas-Fort Worth?

New Star Rising

The Dallas Stars just recently unveiled a new logo and new sweater to keep with the overall change going on within the franchise. They even have a new slogan “New Star Rising” to put the cherry on top. This wholesale change started right after the season ended when they fired Joe Nieuwendyk and hired Jim Nill.
