Early Look at Texas Tech 2014 schedule

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are coming off a surprising run under new head coach Kliff Kingsbury last season. But this year they will be looking to build on what they did last season and improve. Most people didn’t have them making a bowl game last year and they made the Holiday Bowl.

Early look at Baylor 2014 schedule

The Baylor Bears are coming off one of their most successful seasons in school history, they are the defending Big XII champions, and they played in their first BCS bowl. Needless to say expectations will be very high in 2014 from a fan base who is learning what it is like to have a winning program. But I think the bigger expectations will be from head coach Art Briles because this team looks to have reloaded and wants to prove last year was not a fluke.

Baylor Unveils New “March Madness”

Adidas just recently release their new “March into madness” uniforms for the upcoming NCAA post season tournament. One of the teams chosen to wear one of the new uniforms is the Baylor Bears, who have become the “Oregon” of the south with all their basketball uniform combinations. While there are a lot of fans out there who seem to love this “uniform idiocy”, I am not one of them, while there are some of these new combinations that look good, over all it is just a stupid money grab by the manufacturers and the schools.

Red Raiders youth will hinder in 2013

Texas TechThe Texas Tech Red Raiders are starting a new regime this season after the sudden departure of former head coach Tommy Tuberville to Cincinnati. Now enter “prodigal” son Kliff Kingsbury, whose ties run as deep in Lubbock as anyone else within the program. Kingsbury took over the Tech program at the end of last year, while Kingsbury has no previous head coaching experience, he is a former Tech quarterback and has been the offense coordinator at Houston and Texas A&M. His hire has fired up people in Lubbock for the first time since Mike Leach was pacing the sidelines. But can a rookie head coach take a very young team and turn them into a winner?

Rising Expectations on the Brazos

072213_1312_RisingExpec1Art Briles took over at Baylor in 2008 and all it took was two years before he had Baylor back into a bowl game. And since 2010 Baylor has gone to three straight bowl games, winning the last two in row. And to top it off, they had a Heisman trophy winning quarterback and first round draft pick in Robert Griffin III.

Longhorns eyeing return to the top

Texas LonghornsThe Texas Longhorns had expectations of returning to the elite of the Big XII last year, but that quickly got derailed and the Longhorns had to fight to keep the season from getting quickly getting out of hand. They were able to rebound and finished a respectable 9-4 last season with a season ending victory in the Alamo Bowl. It was a far cry from the BCS bowl many wanted for the Horns, but it put a nice cherry on an otherwise up and down season. The Longhorns enter 2013 with a lot of returning starters and more experience than last year. Expectations will once again be high for Mack and company, but for the first year since 2009, they look like they may be able to meet those expectations.

TSFSG Presents: Ya Girl Don’t Do Brackets, But She Makes Predictions 2012 Men’s Final Four

As March Madness comes to as fast as an end as it began with, I am reminded this time of year why I DON’T DO BRACKETS: By the first weekend, usually the play-in games, I am out of contention and have lost any money I put into a pool. I haven’t competitively done brackets in a few years, much to the chagrin of new followers to TSFSG. When confronted with the usual question, “You’re The Sports Girl, I how do you not do brackets”, I quip back, “YA GIRL DON’T DO BRACKETS” and give the above explanation. I think it’s hilarious how people get caught up in brackets. I would rather play fantasy soccer than do brackets.

But it does not stop me from making predictions, which I guess is what doing brackets is, but I don’t like being wrong that many times. Reviews and predictions for The Final Four in New Orleans after the break!
