Sweep? Don’t Bet on It

The big Game 4 tonight featuring the Bruins and Rangers has a lot of intrigue for sure. Can the Bruins close out the series tonight and sweep New York? Many Boston fans, understandably excited that their team has dominated the series (and Henrik Lundqvist) so far, are already tweeting about getting out the brooms and waiting for the Penguins and Senators to finish. Not so fast, Bruins Nation. There are many reasons why hockey fans shouldn’t be betting on the series to end tonight.

The first reason I’m unsure about a sweep tonight is that there haven’t been many playoff sweeps the past few years. There has been one this year and there was one last year, both in the first round (and both, ironically, the Kings sweeping the Canucks).
