When the Penguins got whacked in game two I made an observation about the Islanders that seems relevant:
“What a difference a day makes.”
Never has that been more true than it was last night. Two days after being beaten soundly and humbled by the upstart Islanders, the Penguins played their best 60 minutes of hockey in almost two weeks, winning decisively 4-0 in front of a..*ahem… typical Pittsburgh crowd at Consol Energy Center (more on that later.)
Two weeks ago if you had asked anybody in Pittsburgh who needs to dress and who needs to be in a nice suit on game day you wouldn’t have found too many people in favor of starting Tyler Kennedy.
Even fewer that would have scratched Mark Eaton in favor of Simone Despres. Other than Mrs. Vitale absolutely no one on Earth would have taken out Jussi Jokinen in favor of Joe Vitale.
