In one of the most unsurprising events ever, after six games the Pittsburgh Pirates are 1-5. ESPN, Twitter and every media outlet in America is rife with Pirates jokes. You would think those would be played out and mundane by now, but then you would think America would also be bored with the Kardashians by now, too.
The only thing surprising about 1-5 is the manner in which it has happened. The Pitching staff has actually been spot on. Top of the rotation to the back end, starters and relievers. In 6 games they have a staff ERA of 2.82, good enough for 6th in all of MLB. The starters in particular have played well, logging 35 2/3 and allowing only 12 runs. But the hitting has been amateurish, and that’s being polite. “Sucks out loud” is probably more accurate.
