THOUGHTS FROM WEEK SIXTEEN

I guess I never realized this, but Cris Collinsworth's got some George Washington chompers, doesn't he?

Since we’re taking a much needed break at FOH and not doing the wrap ups or picks until the playoffs start, for some reason I’m feeling obligated to share a little bit about what I saw around the league today. So here it goes… Continue reading

LET’S NOT DO THIS ANYMORE, EH?

Last week’s game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Buffalo Bills marked the end of a five year deal between the National Football League and the city of Toronto to have one regular season Bills game played across the border per year.  Now, the NFL has provided the city of Toronto with an opportunity to extend this agreement until 2017.  However, I’d like to settle this once and for all – There’s no need to do that.  We don’t need NFL football in Toronto or anywhere outside of the United States for that matter.  Continue reading

As part of our continuing series about eerie sports look-alikes, the crack staff here at Sports Blog Movement has unearthed one that may be foreign to some North American sports fans, but is nevertheless worthy of inclusion in our series.

TALES OF DEPRESSION AND SORROW: THE 2012 NEW YORK JETS

So many problems...

So many problems…

by Ryan Meehan

To be perfectly honest with you, I had no intention of watching any of the Monday Night Football this week.  I can’t stand the media circus that has been the New York Jets this year, and the Titans have disappointed me as I had expected them to be better.

Now just so we’re clear, I certainly didn’t expect either team to be great this season.  I can remember looking at the schedule and thinking this wasn’t exactly a good game to go on in Primetime.  When you throw in the fact that technically it’s the next to last Monday Night game of the year (No MNF week 17) it’s easy to see how this was clearly a scheduling error.  Even though the Jets were expected to be much improved this year, it’s hard to imagine anyone thinking that this game was going to be make or break for them.  Continue reading

SBM Exclusive Feature: Sports Doppelgangers, Volume 1A – The Baltimore Ravens Edition

100% of the credit for these sports look-alikes goes to fellow Sports Blog Movement member Patrick Young who offered these in the comments section of the inaugural post in this series. The problem was they were way too good to leave buried in a comment thread.

With that, here are three hilarious Baltimore Raven Doppelgangers:

Matt Birk Ranier wolfcastle

1) Center Matt Birk and “The Simpsons” Schwarzenegger rip-off Rainier Wolfcastle

joe flacco bert

2) Quarterback Joe Flacco and “Sesame Street’s” gay curmudgeon Bert – don’t even try to tell me Bert and Ernie didn’t push those twin beds together when the cameras weren’t rolling

3) Professional Injury Victim Terrelle Suggs and “Fat Albert” flunkie Mushmouth

TALES OF DEPRESSION AND SORROW: THE NEW YORK GIANTS

NYG HWGIC Tom Coughlin

NYG HWGIC Tom Coughlin

by Ryan Meehan

Since I am new to this site, let me give you a little bit of a background on me.  My father is from Bayonne, New Jersey and I grew up a die hard New York Giants fan.  I live in Western Illinois which is an area filled with Packers and Bears fans, so I am constantly ridiculed for my love of an East Coast team.

Sunday, the Giants lost 34-0 at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons, whom I think we all can agree are not nearly as good as their record states.  The Falcons have won a lot of close games and have caught everybody at the time where they were ripe for the picking.  I find it almost impossible to believe that they are thirty-four points better than the New York Giants or have been at any time this season.  Regardless, that’s what happened in the game so that’s where we’re at.  Continue reading

SBM Exclusive Feature: Sports Doppelgangers, Volume 1

Welcome to a new exclusive feature available on on Sports Blog Movement. Today marks the first episode of what we like to call Sports Doppelgangers. This is an exercise in pointing out look-alike relationships in the sports world you may not have thought about before.  We would call it a public service if it weren’t a bit too pointless to be of any civic value.  But what the hell, this is a blog, not the Nobel Prize committee.

dantoni monopoly frame

For our inaugural episode, we offer the following Sports Doppelgangers: Los Angeles Lakers head coach Mike D’Antoni and the Monopoly Guy.
