The July 31st non-waiver trade deadline ended on Tuesday at 4PM. Not that drama can’t ensue after this date, teams have until August 31st to trade players via waivers.

In an interview with Sports Radio 680 The Fan in Atlanta on The Rude Awakening, Braves General Manager Frank Wren declared the Braves are "moving on" from trying to acquire Chicago Cubs right-hander Ryan Dempster in a trade. "I think it's very highly unlikely" said Wren. He spoke of the trade process, in which there were restrictions on the trade that ended Tuesday.

Carolina Panthers center Ryan Kalil is making promises as big as he is.
The Panthers center, perhaps feeling the swagger and confidence a team member gets from having a solid quarterback, placed a full-page ad in The Charlotte Observer, proclaiming that the Panthers are Super Bowl bound---  and that they will be victorious, too!

The advertisement showcases pretty stellar prose on his part.

Monday morning marked the NCAA's decision to speak out on the child sex scandal that has forever changed College Station, PA, Penn State University, its athletic program, and the legacy of the late Joe Paterno forever. NCAA President Mark Emmert and Chairman of the NCAA's executive committee and Oregon State University President Ed Ray announced this morning the oncoming penalties, sanctions, and future compliance regulations in a press conference.

Monday sources close to the situation reported to ESPNChicago.com’s Bruce Levine that the Braves and Cubs had agreed to terms on Atlanta acquiring right hander Ryan Dempster in exchange for Braves youngster Randall Delgado. The Braves, who are in desperate need of rotational help, and Cubs are awaiting approval of the trade by the players.
